The management of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has approved the expulsion of one student and the rustication of 51 others over examination misconduct.

This was contained in a statement issued by the institution’s Director of Information and Protocol, Nasiru Abdul, and made available to journalists in Katsina.

According to the statement, the decision was taken during the university’s 139th Regular Senate Meeting held on May 5, 2026.

It explained that the affected students were found guilty of examination misconduct during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The statement noted that the disciplinary action was in line with Section 13.3, Sub-section 13.3(c) of the university’s Academic Policy on Examination Irregularity and Academic Misconduct.

It added that the students were sanctioned after appearing before FUDMA’s Committee on Examination Misconduct, which recommended appropriate penalties later approved by the Senate.

The statement further disclosed that the latest sanctions have brought the total number of students disciplined for examination-related offences to 72, following an earlier batch of 20 students rusticated in March 2026.

“The rustication, which will last for two semesters, takes effect from the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session,” the statement added.

According to the university, the affected students were drawn from several faculties, including Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Computing, and the College of Education.

The management reiterated the university’s commitment to maintaining academic integrity and enforcing disciplinary measures against acts capable of undermining the credibility of its academic standards.
