Gama Media Connect has successfully held its maiden annual event, distributing ₦20,000 each to 100 orphans, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable members of society, as part of efforts to promote unity, social welfare, and community development.
The event, which took place on Sunday at The Avenue Event Centre, brought together traditional rulers, youth leaders, community stakeholders, civil servants, business personalities, and residents of the Gama community.
Themed “United Voice for Community Change,” the programme marked a significant milestone for the organization, showcasing its vision and commitment to improving the living conditions of people at the grassroots.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Gama Media Connect, Auwal Muhammad Danlarabawa, said the gathering was aimed at uniting the people of Gama and charting a collective path towards sustainable development.
According to him, the organization consulted widely with key stakeholders, including representatives of the Gama Emirate, business leaders, civil servants, and other relevant personalities, to identify pressing challenges facing the community.
“The purpose of this gathering is to unite the people of Gama and engage all important stakeholders in discussing the progress and challenges of our ward, with a view to finding lasting solutions,” he said.
Danlarabawa explained that Gama Media Connect is committed to human development, with special focus on addressing water scarcity through the drilling of boreholes, as well as providing support to persons with special needs.
He further disclosed that the organization is investing in the education and health sectors by distributing books and school bags, and engaging medical professionals within the Gama community to provide healthcare services to residents.
“Our aim is to serve as a strong pillar for human development, improve access to education and healthcare, and ensure that vulnerable groups are not left behind,” he added.
On his part, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa commended the people of Gama for their high level of security consciousness, noting that the ward records fewer cases of thuggery and phone snatching compared to other areas.
He urged residents to continue playing an active role in addressing security challenges, stressing that security is a collective responsibility and not the duty of security agencies alone.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the District Head of Gama, Alhaji Isyaku Rabi’u; Professor Talatu Gama; former and serving members of the Kano State House of Assembly; officials of Nasarawa Local Government; Hon. Musa Yawale (Tafidan Gama); the Divisional Police Officer of Gwagwarwa Division; and CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, among others.
