The Executive Chairman of Gombe South Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Auwalu Jauro Bappi, has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS) to improve revenue mobilisation and administration in the council.

Bappi made the commitment when he received a delegation from GIRS, led by its Executive Chairperson, Hajiya A’isha Adamu, FCNA, in his office.

According to Aisha, the delegation visited the council to congratulate Bappi on his assumption of office and seek stronger cooperation between the two institutions to enhance revenue generation within the LCDA.

She stressed the need for effective collaboration between state and local authorities to improve internally generated revenue, noting that increased revenue would contribute to sustainable development and better service delivery.

Responding, Bappi thanked the delegation for the visit and commended the GIRS leadership and staff for their efforts to improve revenue administration in the state.

He assured the service of his administration’s support in areas including tax awareness, revenue mobilisation, compliance and effective revenue administration.

The chairman said a stronger revenue base at the grassroots level would enable the council to implement development programmes and provide essential services to residents.

He also pledged to promote transparency, accountability and efficiency while working with relevant government institutions to advance development in Gombe South LCDA.

Those present at the meeting included the Deputy Chairman of the LCDA, Hon. Dalhatu Boderi; councillors; the Special Adviser to the Chairman on General Duties, Alhaji Mohammed Salisu; senior officials and other guests.

The meeting ended with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to closer cooperation in revenue generation and grassroots development.
