From Mu’awuya Bala Idris, Katsina

Governor Umar Dikko Radda of Katsina State has disclosed that his administration has constructed over 200 kilometres of roads within the last three years.

Radda made this known during the commissioning of two major road projects in the state.

The projects were inaugurated by the Governors of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu.

The commissioned projects include the 8.1-kilometre Yandaki–Shinkafi–Kofar Sauri dual carriageway and the 3.9-kilometre Shargalle-Dutsi–Ingawa road.

The governor explained that the road constructions were undertaken in response to the needs of communities and to open up new areas for economic development.

He revealed that the 39-kilometre Shargalle–Dutsi–Ingawa road was reconstructed and upgraded at a cost of N13.9 billion.

“This project is not just a road; it is a vital economic corridor that connects our communities, supports agriculture and trade, and improves the daily lives of our people,” Radda said.

He further stated that the 8.1-kilometre Shinkafi–Kofar Sauri dual carriageway was constructed at a cost of N12.6 billion, describing it as a major milestone in modernising infrastructure and improving urban mobility.

Radda commended the State Ministry of Works and Housing for the timely completion and quality execution of the projects, and urged benefiting communities to protect government facilities from vandalism.

In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State described road construction as a critical investment that enhances connectivity, reduces congestion, and boosts socio-economic activities.

He commended the Katsina State Government for implementing projects aimed at improving the standard of living of its people.

Also speaking, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State said the Dutsi–Shargalle road reflects strong leadership, clear vision, and regional cooperation.
