Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has officially signed the 2025 Budget of “Building Your Future II” into law.
The approved budget totals N692,244,449,513.87, which reflects a slight increase of N10 billion from the original proposal of N682,244,449,513.87 submitted by the Governor on November 25, 2024.
In his remarks at the signing ceremony, Governor Radda commended the Katsina State House of Assembly for its hard work and dedication in ensuring the state has a budget that will effectively support developmental activities throughout 2025.
He also praised the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for their thorough efforts in preparing a budget that will guide the administration.
“Our budget is one of the shining examples of budget performance in the country for 2024, and I believe we have performed extremely well,” Governor Radda stated.
Speaking on the budget’s priorities, the Governor highlighted that the 2025 budget focuses heavily on capital projects, with education leading the way, followed closely by agriculture.
He emphasized that these projects are designed to empower citizens, improve their quality of life, and reduce poverty levels across the state.
Governor Radda also lauded the State Assembly’s oversight functions, noting that the 2024 oversight efforts ensured that MDAs fulfilled their responsibilities.
He urged the legislators to continue their diligent work in order to achieve optimal transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, described the 2025 budget as the result of a rigorous legislative process. He expressed pride in the Assembly’s efforts to ensure that the budget reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.
The Speaker explained that after reviewing the budget during the defense sessions by the MDAs, an additional N10 billion was identified and incorporated, bringing the total budget to N692,244,449,513.87, up from the initial N682,244,449,513.87 submitted by the executive.
He added, “This revised budget will provide the necessary framework for the development of the state and the improvement of the citizens’ standard of living.”
Concluding his remarks, Speaker Daura expressed confidence that, with this budget, significant progress will be made across the state in the coming year.
