Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of a new management board for Kano Pillars Football Club and named former Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, as the club’s General Manager.

The appointments, according to the state government, are aimed at repositioning the team and improving its performance ahead of the upcoming Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

A statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the decision followed a series of consultations with key stakeholders, after which it was agreed that most members of the outgoing board would continue, with a few strategic additions.

“As part of a broader effort to strengthen Kano Pillars FC, the Governor has approved a newly constituted board with a renewed mandate and new leadership direction,” the statement read.

Musa, who began his career at the club before rising to global prominence with stints at CSKA Moscow, Leicester City, and Al Nassr, is expected to bring global exposure and professionalism to the club’s management.

The Governor’s office said the new appointments are part of a long-term plan to transform Kano Pillars into one of the most formidable teams in the NPFL.
