The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has today Friday 22nd August, commissioned the upgraded Jumu’at mosque domiciled within the premises of Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) that was named after him.

The mosque was hitherto used for five daily prayers has been upgraded to the Jumu’at status for weekly devotions on the instruction of the governor.

This was contained in a press release issued by Mustapha Muhammad, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The commissioning ceremony, which was attended by prominent government officials, traditional leaders, Islamic scholars, hundreds of worshippers and staff of ARTV, was a testament to the state’s commitment to promoting Islamic values.

The Dan Amar of Kano and District Head of Gobirawa, Alhaji Aliyu Harazimi Umar, who represented Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II in leading the Jumu’at prayer delivered a sermon that centered around importance of observing Jumu’at prayers, sustenance of brotherhood and obedience to constituted authority among the Ummah.

He also offered special prayers for Allah’s guidance to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, continued peace, stability and prosperity in Kano State in particular and the nation as a whole.

The upgrading of the mosque is part of the state government’s efforts to promote Islamic education and values, and provide facilities for Muslims to worship and gather as the mosque can accommodate a large number of worshippers.
