Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the establishment of a high-powered Political Advisory Team to strengthen good governance and advance the administration’s “Kano First” agenda.
The advisory body, which will serve as a strategic think tank, is expected to provide the Governor with expert political guidance and policy advice to help the administration navigate the evolving political landscape while sustaining its developmental programmes.
This was contained in a statement issued by Musa Tanko Muhammad, Press Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Kano State.
Speaking during the inauguration of the committee at his office, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, said the appointments reflected the Governor’s confidence in the members’ integrity, wealth of experience, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to the progress of Kano State.
He noted that the committee was constituted at a critical period when the administration is managing the complexities of governance amid increasing political competition.
According to the SSG, the committee will advise the Governor on constructive engagement with political stakeholders, including opposition groups, with the aim of promoting political tolerance, inclusiveness, and stronger commitment to public service and good governance.
He explained that the advisory team would also provide strategic recommendations on addressing emerging political challenges while ensuring that the administration remains focused on achieving its sustainable development objectives.
The committee is further expected to recommend practical measures to prevent political violence, manage intra-party differences, and strengthen unity, cooperation, and solidarity necessary for a stable political environment that supports sustainable social and economic development.
The SSG added that the team would also advise on aligning local and national political priorities with the administration’s “Kano First” Blueprint, to ensure policy consistency, synergy, and effective delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Kano State.

Expressing confidence in the committee, the SSG said the members’ collective knowledge, experience, and patriotism would contribute significantly to the success of Governor Yusuf’s administration and the overall development of Kano State.
He urged the committee to submit periodic reports through written submissions or scheduled briefings to enable the Governor to effectively implement its recommendations.
The SSG congratulated the members on their appointment and wished them success in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Responding on behalf of the committee, its Chairman, Professor Habu Muhammad Fagge, thanked Governor Yusuf for the confidence reposed in the team.
He observed that, to the best of his knowledge, this is the first time in Kano State’s history that a committee of this nature has been established to provide structured strategic political advisory services to the Governor.
Professor Fagge noted that previous administrations largely relied on individual political advisers, describing the establishment of the committee as a significant innovation.
He assured the Governor that members of the committee would carry out their assignment with dedication, professionalism, and patriotism in appreciation of the opportunities Kano State had provided them throughout their educational and professional careers.
He concluded by praying for Allah’s guidance and protection for the Governor, the committee, and for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Kano State.
