Adamawa State Police Command apprehended two female suspects for allegedly kidnapping a 4-year-old boy, Friday Okonkwo.
The female suspect is said to be the elder sister of the kidnapped victim Blessing Okonkwo who sold the boy to Efunaya Nabufe a 35-year-old woman who resides in Mubi North LGA, Adamawa state.
Both accused allegedly admitted their crime to the state police command via interrogation carried out by the spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
Nguroje earlier disclosed that the mother of the boy, Hauwa Lawan who lives at Rimirgo in Askira Uba LGA, Borno state reported the stealing of her son to the police on the 2nd of July, 2024.
Blessing, who is an elder sister to Friday met their mother at Rimirgo sometime last year and pleaded with her to release her younger brother to her to enrol him in school in Mubi since there is no standard school in Rimirgo.
The mother (Hauwa) released the boy to her being her first daughter unknown to her that her daughter had concluded negotiations with Efunaya on how to sell the boy to her.
During the negotiation, Blessing was said to have deceived Efunaya that Friday was her child and that she was impregnated while in Secondary School and gave birth to him.
She left with the boy to Mubi and sold him at the sum of N410,000 to Efunaya who later took the boy to Enugu State as both of them confessed to the police.
During interrogation, Blessing informed the Police spokesman that she had used the money and buy the grinding machine, and the handset and given her fiance the sum of N200,000.
The Command Alps stated that the investigation is still ongoing as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, assuring that the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
