From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina.

The Chairman of Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, Hon. Sirajo Ado Jibia, has recorded significant strides in economic empowerment and infrastructure development within less than one year in office.

Since its inauguration some months ago, the local government administration has prioritized policies and programmes aimed at improving livelihoods, boosting small-scale enterprises, and enhancing access to essential public services across the area.

Based on details made available by the local government media office, the Sirajo Ado administration has implemented a comprehensive empowerment scheme targeting women and youth.

This includes the distribution of 100 grinding machines, 100 sewing machines, 100 spaghetti-making machines, 100 groundnut oil processing machines, 100 tea vendor kits, and 100 barbing kits.

The interventions have significantly enhanced self-reliance, expanded small businesses, and reduced idleness among beneficiaries, particularly women and young people.

The council also extended additional direct support to vulnerable groups and residents, including the distribution of 20 vehicles, 50 wheelchairs for persons with disabilities, and 75 motorcycles to youths.

Similarly, 10 orphaned brides were supported with household furniture, while 609 youths received financial assistance of ₦20,000 each to support their economic activities.

In the same vein, 17 new motorcycles were provided to traditional rulers (magaddai) to enhance community communication and service delivery.

On infrastructure, the Chairman’s administration has undertaken several key projects aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery.

These include the reconstruction and upgrading of the local government secretariat into a modern facility to enhance administrative efficiency and accessibility, as well as the construction of a new central conference hall.

In the health sector, a 12-bed capacity hospital has been constructed in Hayin Gada to expand healthcare services and improve patient care.

Additionally, existing health facilities in Bugaje and Gurbin Magarya have been renovated and upgraded with new laboratory units and expanded capacity.

The Sirajo Ado-led administration also procured and distributed medical equipment and drugs worth millions of naira to healthcare centres across the local government area.

Currently, several other strategic projects are ongoing and will further accelerate development across Jibia Local Government upon completion.

These achievements are only a fraction of what has been accomplished within a short period. The Media Assistant expressed optimism that the area would emerge as a model of grassroots development in Katsina State within the next three years.

The people of Jibia are urged to continue supporting the Sirajo Ado administration to enable it execute more developmental projects and policies that have a direct bearing on their lives, while also calling on opposition elements to engage constructively by offering meaningful suggestions that would contribute to the overall progress and development of Jibia Local Government Area.
