From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan, has charged the Katsina State Police Command to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in tackling the security challenges facing the state.
The IGP gave the charge in Katsina while addressing officers and men of the command.
He was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the North-West Zone, Suleiman Mohammed.
He stressed that closer cooperation between the police and other security agencies would contribute significantly to the total eradication of crime in the state.
Rilwan further urged the officers to intensify efforts against banditry, saying criminals must be decisively confronted.
“When bandits know we are firing back decisively, they will think twice. Keep pushing hard, stay focused, stay sharp, and sustain the momentum,” he said.
The IGP commended the command for its performance, noting that it had recorded significant successes through the arrest and neutralization of bandits and their collaborators.
“You are the pride of the Force. Thank you for your dedication and bravery,” he added.
He also assured that his administration would continue to train and retrain officers to improve efficiency and professionalism.
According to him, reforms are also underway to ensure that retired officers receive their pensions promptly and without delay.
Earlier, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Umar Fagge, described the visit as a morale booster and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to achieving the six-point agenda of the Inspector-General of Police.
He noted that the command had recorded notable successes within the year, including the arrest of criminals, recovery of weapons, and neutralization of several bandit groups.
