In a historic show of unity and resolve, the Concerned Fika Community Elders, Youths, and Women Solidarity Group has expressed strong support for the establishment of the Federal College of Agriculture and Forestry in Fika, Yobe State.

The group’s unanimous endorsement of the bill to amend the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act, CAP A12, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, marks a significant milestone toward realizing this vision.

The Concerned Fika Community members convened a meeting on Monday at the Town Hall Centre in Fika, where a communiqué was read by Ibrahim Bawa Fika.

He emphasized that the proposed college aims to promote agricultural development, foster community engagement, and address existing challenges to progress.

“The Fika Community is eager to collaborate and provide support for the college’s establishment, demonstrating our dedication to the success of this project,” Bawa said.

He further explained that “Fika town has a rich history, dating back to the 1800s when it became part of the Northern Nigeria British Protectorate. Today, it remains a peaceful and thriving local government headquarters in Yobe State.”

Regarding the objectives of the college’s establishment, he highlighted that the institution would contribute to the growth of agriculture and forestry in the region, driving economic development and improving livelihoods.

“The Fika Community is committed to working together and offering all necessary support for the college’s establishment. Despite opposition from some individuals, the group remains resolute in backing this initiative,” Bawa added.

The community’s strong sense of unity and determination will be pivotal in overcoming any challenges and ensuring the successful realization of the college.

Their collective effort promises a brighter future for the community and a meaningful contribution to the growth of agriculture and forestry in the region.

The community also called on the federal government and the lawmaker representing the Fika/Fune Federal Constituency, Mohammed Buba Jejere, to remain focused and undeterred by the actions of those seeking to undermine the progress of Fika.

“We welcome any meaningful development in Fika for the betterment of our people and stand ready to provide all necessary support to ensure the success of this important project. We believe that this college will significantly improve the livelihoods of the Fika community, Yobe State, and Nigeria as a whole,” they said.
