The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names and personal particulars of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

The Commission announced the extension in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

Haruna said the previous deadline, which was fixed for Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election, had been shifted following appeals from the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties.

According to him, several political parties requested more time after encountering difficulties in uploading the names and personal particulars of their candidates within the stipulated period.

He explained that the Commission’s decision reflects its commitment to promoting inclusiveness in the electoral process while operating within the provisions of the law.

INEC urged all political parties to take advantage of the extension by completing the upload of all required information before the new deadline expires.
