The Yobe State chapter of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has conferred the title of Grand Patron on Governor Mai Mala Buni in recognition of his contributions to the growth of democracy and good governance in Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by the Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed, the honour was presented by the State Chairman of IPAC, Alhaji Adamu Jajere.
Jajere described Governor Buni as a statesman whose contributions have strengthened Nigeria’s democratic process, saying the country’s democratic history would be incomplete without acknowledging his role.
“You have contributed immensely to the stability of democracy in Nigeria,” Jajere said.
He also commended the governor for promoting developmental politics in Yobe State, noting that under his leadership, the state’s progress has remained the priority of political actors.
Jajere assured Governor Buni that IPAC would continue to work with all stakeholders to strengthen democracy and promote good governance in the state.
In his response, Governor Buni thanked the council for the honour and called on politicians to embrace issue-based politics devoid of bitterness.
He urged political leaders across party lines to place the interest of Yobe State above personal or partisan considerations.
“Yobe belongs to us all, and every one of us has an obligation to contribute to the development of the state,” the governor said.
“We may belong to different political parties, but it should always be Yobe first,” he added.
