The Kano State Commissioner for Housing Development has officially flagged off the AKY Gida-Gida Computer Training Empowerment Programme, aimed at equipping 500 youths with essential digital skills to enhance their employability and promote self-reliance.

The event commenced with an opening prayer delivered by the Director of Physical Planning, setting the tone for a successful and impactful programme.

In a statement issued by the Personal Assistant (Admin) to the Commissioner, Adam Ibrahim Kafinta, and made available to The Triumph, it was stated that the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Tijjani Shariff, in his welcome address, warmly received the Special Guest of Honour, the District Head of Madobi, Alhaji Babba Musa Sale, alongside directors of the ministry, distinguished guests, and the selected beneficiaries.

The Permanent Secretary emphasized the importance of the initiative as a strategic step toward youth empowerment and socio-economic development in the state.

Delivering his keynote address as the Chief Host, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing Development, Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, MNIA, reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering young people through capacity-building initiatives.

He noted that the AKY Gida-Gida programme is designed to bridge the digital divide by providing beneficiaries with practical computer knowledge, enabling them to compete effectively in today’s technology-driven world.

The commissioner further encouraged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunity, remain dedicated throughout the training period, and utilize the acquired skills for both personal growth and community development.

The highlight of the event was the official flag-off of the training programme, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for the 500 selected youths across the state.

The initiative aligns with the state government’s broader objective of fostering innovation, reducing unemployment, and empowering youths as key drivers of sustainable development.
