The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected bandit allegedly on a mission to deliver arms and fake military accessories to criminal elements hiding in the forests of Bichi Local Government Area, recovering 109 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and other incriminating items.
The arrest followed credible intelligence from members of the Rimawa community, leading to the apprehension of 28-year-old Mohammed Isah Haruna of Dan Dinshe Yamma Quarters, Dala Local Government Area.
Police recovered one AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 live rounds, an additional 79 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, two suspected military uniforms, three military caps, a suspected fake military identity card, a pair of desert boots, four ATM cards, a National Identity Card, a NIN slip and a Permanent Voter’s Card.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect confessed during preliminary investigation that he had travelled to Bichi to deliver the ammunition and military items to bandits operating in nearby forests.
Commending the vigilance of the Rimawa community, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori described the arrest as a major breakthrough against criminal networks and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence.
The suspect is in custody while investigations continue to identify and arrest other members of the suspected logistics network before prosecution.
