The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, has warned criminals and their accomplices that the command will not provide a hiding place for anyone involved in criminal activities.
Ordue gave the warning while addressing officers during his familiarisation tour of area commands and divisions across the Northern and Central Senatorial Districts of Cross River State.
He charged them to strengthen community policing and remain firm, professional and decisive in tackling criminality.
The commissioner stressed that effective policing requires public cooperation, alongside an unwavering commitment to law enforcement.
According to a statement issued to the media by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Sunday Eitokpha Akata, the tour covered Ogoja Area Command on October 15 and Ikom Area Command on October 16, 2026.
The commissioner subsequently visited Akamkpa Area Command on October 22 and Ugep Area Command on October 23, 2026.
Emphasising that security is everybody’s responsibility, Ordue urged officers to strengthen engagement with residents, traditional rulers, youth groups and other stakeholders to build public trust, improve intelligence gathering and enhance collective efforts to protect lives and property.
He further directed officers to conduct thorough investigations and ensure the diligent and lawful prosecution of offenders without fear or favour.
The commissioner cautioned that community policing must not be mistaken for weakness in law enforcement, just as firmness against criminality must never come at the expense of human rights, professionalism or due process.
The tour, Akata stated, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to a policing approach built on strong community partnerships, credible intelligence, accountability and decisive action against crime within the confines of the law.
The command called on residents to provide credible security information and cooperate with the police to sustain peace and security across Cross River State.
