The North West Zonal Deputy Coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Council for Agro-Allied Commodities Mobilisation, who is also the Kano South Deputy Coordinator of Arewa4Asiwaju, Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, has reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising grassroots support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag-off of the presidential campaign in Kaduna, Hon. Gaya said the rally would serve as a platform for APC stakeholders and electorates from across the country to speak with one voice that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027.
He said President Tinubu had stabilised a difficult economy, restored investors’ confidence and is rebuilding Nigeria’s foundation, adding that what the President needs is continuity to complete the good work he has started.
“President Tinubu took bold and difficult decisions to save our economy from collapse. Today, we are seeing the results – improved federal allocation to states, growing foreign reserves and massive infrastructure renewal across the country. Continuity is key,” he said.
Hon. Gaya said the false narrative that the North West has been neglected has been shattered by facts, noting that the zone leads all other geopolitical zones in the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approvals with N5.97 trillion, representing over 40 per cent of all national projects.
“President Tinubu has not abandoned the North West; he has made it the centrepiece of his national transformation agenda. What we are seeing under this administration is unprecedented in our history,” he stated.
He listed some of the projects to include the 1,068km Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, the 375km Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway, where a section was recently commissioned, and the Kano-Kaduna-Katsina-Maradi standard gauge railway.
The former two-term member of the House of Representatives for Ajingi/Albasu/Gaya Federal Constituency also said President Tinubu has launched the most ambitious agricultural revolution since independence.
According to him, the declaration of a state of emergency on food security under the Renewed Hope Agenda was a bold and timely intervention that saved millions of farming families from hardship.
“This is not just a policy statement; it is a practical revolution that our farmers in the North are feeling on their farms,” he said.
Hon. Gaya explained that through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the administration has activated the National Strategic Grain Reserve in many states across the North to ensure stable food supply and price stability.
He added that the government has also created the Nigeria Postharvest Systems Transformation Programme (NiPHaST) to drastically reduce post-harvest losses which had been the bane of farmers for decades.
“For years, our farmers lost over 40 per cent of their harvest due to lack of storage and processing. NiPHaST is changing that story by strengthening storage and supply chains from the community level upwards,” he stated.
