From Maawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, has officially launched the 2024/2025 General Household Survey to facilitate smooth policy implementation in the state.
The survey, which will be conducted across all 34 local government areas, aims to gather vital data for informed policy decisions. A total of 170 enumerators have been engaged for the exercise.
In his remarks during the launch, Governor Radda emphasized that the survey would provide policymakers and development partners with a deeper understanding of household living conditions.
This, he said, would generate evidence-based information crucial for effective policy implementation and ultimately improve the lives of residents in the state.
Governor Radda also inaugurated the State Consultative Committee, tasked with accelerating the development of the state’s statistical system.
He urged enumerators to ensure honesty and accuracy in providing the required information for government consideration.
The governor directed all ministries, departments, and agencies to collaborate with the Bureau of Statistics for future surveys and data collection initiatives.
He also expressed appreciation to UNICEF for its continued support and attention to the challenges facing the state.
Reflecting on the state administration’s commitment to data collection, Radda highlighted that one of his first priorities upon assuming office was to implement programs aimed at improving the living standards of Katsina’s residents.
He reaffirmed the administration’s focus on inclusive development, ensuring no one is left behind.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Bureau of Statistics, Associate Professor Saifullahi Sani Matazu, revealed that the state government had allocated significant funds for the survey.
He also mentioned that the bureau had procured ICT equipment and mobilized committed personnel to ensure the exercise’s success.
Professor Matazu assured that the Bureau would collaborate with development partners like UNICEF and the World Bank to ensure comprehensive coverage and the accuracy of the information gathered.
During the event, Hajiya Fatima, a representative from UNICEF’s Kano Field Office, presented on the advantages of the program, highlighting its potential to drive positive change in the state.
