Katsina state government has renovated and provided facilities to 150 primary and junior secondary schools under the Transformation Education System ((TES) at the state level.
The state coordinator of TES, Binta Ahmed Abdulmumini told newsmen that renovation and provision of facilities cost about N2.3billion.
Binta said the facilities provided to the schools include desks and chairs, water, solar systems, and toilets among others.
She said the work was carried out in collaboration with school Basic and Management Committees at the local government level for quality jobs.
According to her, the idea behind the work is to increase enrollment in schools to address the problem of school children.
Her words: “We constructed an additional classroom. Provide water and learning materials to encourage parent to send their children to school.”
The Coordinator said the government has commenced renovation of an additional 150 schools selected from 34 local government areas.
“We targeted to renovate 300 schools and provide them with needed facilities by the end of October next year, ” she added.
Binta said under the TES project, the state government has commenced training of 10,000 teachers for the delivery of quality education.
