The Katsina State Internal Revenue Service has commenced a statewide stakeholders’ engagement on the Integrated Revenue Management System (central billing), designed to eliminate leakages and strengthen revenue collection.
The engagement, flagged off in Sandamu Local Government Area, will be extended to all 34 councils of the state.
Executive Chairman of the service, Isyaku Muhammad, represented by the Executive Director of Corporate Services, Murtala Muhammad Kankara, said the central billing system was introduced to simplify tax payments and ensure all revenues are remitted directly into government coffers.
“The central billing was introduced to eliminate leakages in revenue generation and build confidence that taxpayers’ money goes directly to the government,” he said.
He noted that the service had opened a website, introduced Tax Identification Numbers, and produced pamphlets in English and Hausa to educate taxpayers.
Executive Director of Digital Modernisation, Kabir Isah Fago, explained that the system would boost internally generated revenue and reduce dependence on federal allocation.
Chairman of Sandamu LGA, Usman Nalado, pledged to mobilise traditional and religious leaders to sensitise residents, describing the initiative as a major step toward accountability.
The event was attended by youth groups, transport unions, women leaders, and traditional rulers.
