The Katsina State Development Board (KTSDB) has organised a three-day capacity-building workshop for civil servants from various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to strengthen good governance and service delivery in the state.
Participants were drawn from public relations, monitoring and evaluation, and data units across MDAs.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Executive Director of the KTSDB, Malam Mustapha Shehu, said the training was designed to equip officers with modern tools and practical skills to promote transparency, innovation and citizen-focused governance.
He said the sessions would cover topics such as Public Engagement and Strategic Communication, Data-Driven Decision-Making, and Digital Transformation in Government.
“We are here to build the capacity of strategic and key government officers on governance for development,” Shehu said. “Beyond their technical expertise, this workshop is aimed at helping them connect their roles in the office to the broader goal of good governance.”
He urged participants to pay close attention to the presentations and step down the knowledge gained to their colleagues in their respective offices.
“At the end of the training, we expect participants to return fully equipped not only to deliver on their mandates but also to integrate good governance principles into their work. We also want them to build the capacity of their own staff for institutional memory and sustainable development,” he added.
Papers presented during the workshop focused on public engagement and strategic communication, data collection and utilisation, as well as digital literacy for governance.
