In a bid to address the issue of unemployment, the Katsina State Government has successfully trained over 500 girls in various skills.

The trainees were equipped with knowledge in catering, knitting, sewing, computer literacy, jewellery making, and more.

To further support their entrepreneurial journey, they were presented with empowerment kits and cash assistance to help them establish businesses.

At the graduation ceremony, Governor Dikko Radda underscored that the success of the program is a testament to his administration’s commitment to the welfare and economic development of the people.

“Today’s achievements go beyond certificates and skills; they signify the fulfilment of our promise to the young women of our state,” Governor Radda stated.

The Governor, who announced a personal donation of N10,000 to each of the graduating trainees, emphasized that the training would help them become self-reliant. He also praised the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development for its excellence in implementing the skills acquisition program.

Governor Radda encouraged the graduates to use their newly acquired skills as tools for positive change. He urged them to boldly pursue their dreams and become role models for others.

The Governor also recognized the critical support provided by parents, guardians, and well-wishers throughout the trainees’ educational journeys.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Girl Child Education and Child Development, Jamila Abdu Mani, explained that the 500 girls were trained under the department’s Skills Acquisition Centre.

She highlighted that the centre had expanded its curriculum to include advanced technology training, with over 100 trainees currently enrolled in robotics courses.

Mani proudly shared the students’ remarkable achievements, including the development of automated irrigation systems capable of detecting soil moisture levels and adjusting water flow. Additionally, the trainees created traffic light systems and designed self-driving car prototypes with accident detection capabilities.

“The success we celebrate today is not a mere coincidence; it is a direct result of the support and strategic guidance provided by Governor Dikko Radda’s belief in the potential of our girl child, coupled with his vision for a prosperous and inclusive Katsina State,” Mani said.

Delivering a lecture on the importance of girl child education and empowerment, Guest Speaker Malama Murjanatu Ibrahim Duwan urged the trainees to continue their learning journey, emphasizing that education is essential for every woman’s life.

Duwan also expressed gratitude to Governor Radda and Hon. Mani for their unwavering focus on the development of the girl child, praying that the program’s benefits will contribute significantly to the state’s growth.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of empowerment kits and cash assistance to the graduates.
