From Joseph Asegba, Yola
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Adamawa State has donated two brand new vehicles—a Toyota Hummer bus and a Toyota Hilux pickup—to the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of forthcoming council and general elections.
The donation was made by chairmen of the 21 local government councils in the state and presented to the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Hamza Alhaji Bello Madagali, at the party’s secretariat in Yola.
Presenting the vehicles, the ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Toungo Local Government Area, Hon. Suleiman Gangkuba, said the gesture symbolised unity, loyalty and collective commitment of council chairmen to the PDP leadership in the state.
Gangkuba explained that the donation was driven by a sincere desire to support the party’s smooth operations, especially during periods of heightened political activities that require mobility, coordination and grassroots outreach.
He described the intervention as timely and deliberate, noting that the PDP remained a collective project sustained through shared responsibility, sacrifice and mutual support.
According to him, the donation also expressed the confidence of local government chairmen in the leadership and direction of the party in Adamawa State.
Receiving the vehicles, the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Hamza Bello Madagali, expressed profound appreciation to ALGON for what he described as a renewed show of solidarity and trust in the party leadership.
Madagali said the donation reflected the enduring cordial relationship between the PDP structure and local government leadership across the 21 council areas of the state.
He recalled that the council chairmen had, on several occasions in the past, supported the party through similar interventions aimed at strengthening unity, efficiency and performance.
The PDP chairman added that the gesture went beyond material support, describing it as a symbol of shared values, collective ownership and commitment to good governance.
Responding to questions from journalists, Madagali said the party was fully prepared for elections, adding that the PDP could go into an election “even if it is held tomorrow.”
