The Kesoje Charity Foundation has extended its educational support initiative to 10 schools under the Shagari Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) with the donation of school uniforms and learning materials to 1,000 pupils.
The intervention, aimed at improving access to quality education and encouraging school enrolment and retention, saw each beneficiary school receive support for 100 pupils, comprising 60 male and 40 female students.
The items, which included school uniforms and exercise books, were presented on Tuesday in Sokoto by philanthropist and community leader, Hon. Usman Abubakar Kesoje, through his representative, Mallam Bashiru Kesoje.
Speaking during the presentation, Bashiru reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to community development, particularly in the education sector, noting that the initiative was designed to create a better learning environment for children.
He said the foundation would continue to support programmes that promote education and provide opportunities for pupils to thrive academically.
Representing the Education Secretary of Shagari LGEA, the Deputy Education Secretary, Muhammad A. Muhammad, commended the foundation for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that would positively impact the beneficiary schools.
He called on other individuals, philanthropists, and organizations to emulate the initiative, stressing that improving education requires collective efforts from all stakeholders.
The distribution ceremony was attended by key education officials, including the Quality Assurance Officer, Mubarak Aliyu Ado; Head of School Services, Mukhtar Shagari; Mobilization Officer, Danbello Sani; and Area Quality Assurance Officer for Kajiji Area, among others.
