Senator Yakubu Lado Dammarke has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 gubernatorial election in Katsina State.

Lado, who was the sole aspirant of the party, was affirmed by 77,033 delegates during the PDP governorship primary election held in the state.

Our correspondent reports that this will be the fifth time Senator Lado Dammarke is contesting for the governorship seat under different political parties.

Declaring the result, the Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, Barrister Nura Mamman Sani Kankara, said the candidate scored 77,013 votes out of the 77,085 accredited delegates.

“I, Barrister Nuruddeen, Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, hereby declare Senator Yakubu Lado Dammarke as the duly elected governorship candidate of the party for the 2027 election,” he stated.

He commended members of the electoral committee for ensuring the successful conduct of the exercise.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of the party, Nura Amadi Kurfi, described the PDP as a formidable political force in Katsina State and expressed confidence that the party would unseat the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, Senator Yakubu Lado Dammarke thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them that he would work tirelessly to ensure the party’s victory at all levels.

He also commended party stakeholders for the successful conduct of the consensus exercise.

During the event, candidates contesting for National and State Assembly seats were presented with party flags.
