Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has welcomed the New Year with the people of Kano State amid a mammoth crowd at the Mahaha Sports Complex in Kano.

This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Thursday.

The event, which attracted thousands of residents from across the state, featured prayers, goodwill messages and expressions of hope for peace and prosperity in the New Year.

Governor Yusuf described the massive turnout as a reflection of the strong bond between his administration and the people, noting that the New Year presents a renewed opportunity for unity, peace and collective progress.

He called on the people of Kano to remain united and continue to promote peaceful coexistence, stressing that peace remains the foundation for sustainable development and social harmony.

The governor urged residents, particularly youths, to shun violence, intolerance and divisive tendencies, while embracing dialogue, patience and mutual respect.

Governor Yusuf also appealed to religious leaders, traditional rulers and community stakeholders to sustain prayers and community engagement in support of peace and stability across the state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and the implementation of people-oriented policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of Kano citizens in the year ahead.

The New Year celebration ended peacefully amid cheers, prayers and renewed optimism for a better Kano State.
