The Member representing Uyo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset, has expressed confidence that Governor Umo Eno will receive overwhelming support from the people of Uyo Federal Constituency in the 2027 governorship election, citing the Governor’s people-centred policies, visible development projects, and unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking during the ARISE Akwa Ibom radio programme, the federal lawmaker said the four local government areas that make up Uyo Federal Constituency—Uyo, Uruan, Ibesikpo Asutan, and Nsit Atai—have experienced firsthand the positive impact of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda. He added that the administration’s performance has earned the trust and appreciation of the people.
According to Elder Mark Esset, Governor Umo Eno’s inclusive style of governance, strategic investments in critical sectors, and grassroots-focused interventions have continued to inspire confidence among citizens across the state.
He maintained that the Governor’s achievements have positioned him for what he described as an overwhelming electoral mandate in 2027, noting that the people are prepared to reciprocate good governance with massive support at the polls.
“The people have seen the results of purposeful leadership. Across our constituency, there is widespread appreciation for Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to development and the welfare of our people. That is why I am confident he will enjoy overwhelming support in 2027,” the lawmaker said.
Elder Esset further disclosed that his legislative interventions and constituency empowerment programmes have been deliberately designed to complement the ARISE Agenda, ensuring that both state and federal initiatives work together to improve the living standards of constituents.
He explained that his empowerment programmes have prioritised agriculture, transportation, and small business development by providing farming support, transportation assistance, and business grants that have enabled many residents to expand their economic opportunities and improve household incomes.
The federal lawmaker also applauded Governor Umo Eno’s ongoing free food distribution programme across the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State, describing it as a timely social intervention that has brought relief to thousands of vulnerable families amid prevailing economic challenges.
According to him, the initiative reflects the Governor’s compassionate leadership and determination to ensure that no family is left behind during difficult economic times.
Speaking on the need for community participation in governance, Elder Esset urged residents to protect public infrastructure and make responsible use of government empowerment opportunities.
He condemned the vandalism of public facilities, including solar-powered installations and water projects, warning that such acts undermine development efforts and discourage future investments.
The lawmaker also encouraged beneficiaries of government grants and empowerment schemes to invest the resources wisely, expand their businesses, and create additional economic opportunities, stressing that successful empowerment programmes encourage governments to sustain and expand similar initiatives.
On legislative representation, Elder Esset reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining close engagement with constituents through regular town hall meetings and consultations with youths, women, and community leaders.
He noted that these engagements have enabled him to identify pressing community needs and ensure that his legislative responsibilities and constituency projects remain people-driven and responsive to local aspirations.
Reflecting on the recent flooding that affected parts of Uyo Federal Constituency, the federal lawmaker recalled that he promptly raised a motion on the floor of the House of Representatives, leading to the deployment of officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assess the affected communities and begin the process of providing federal assistance.
Elder Esset reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Governor Umo Eno and relevant federal agencies to attract more developmental projects, strengthen community resilience, and improve the quality of life of the people of Uyo Federal Constituency.
He assured constituents that his focus remains on providing effective representation, attracting meaningful development, and supporting policies that promote sustainable growth and shared prosperity across the constituency.
