The Organised Labour Congress in Katsina state has commended the state government for releasing over N18 billion to clear the backlog of gratuity to retired civil servants in the State.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued to newsmen and signed by the chairman of NLC and the secretary of organised labour, Comrade Hussaini Hamisu Yanduna and Comrade Muhtari Abdu Rumah respectively.
The statement said the settlement of the gratuity for both state and local government retirees indicated the concern of Governor Radda to alleviate their suffering.
“We acknowledged his commitment to offset the gratuity from 2020/2023 in the six months and one year,” the statement added.
The statement explained that the settlement of the gratuity was one of the remarkable achievements within a short period of the current State government.
The statement assured that organised labour will continue to partner with the state government to enhance the welfare of state civil servants.
