Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have arrested three suspects in connection with alleged cases of vandalism and tricycle theft in different parts of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Kano.

According to the statement, two suspects, Adamu Ibrahim, 25, and Abba Ado, 24, both residents of Roba in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, were apprehended shortly after allegedly vandalizing and stealing 300 metres of aluminium conductor cables belonging to Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) at Yunfawa village in Dawakin Tofa LGA.

The statement revealed that on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m., the suspects allegedly climbed electric poles in the area, vandalized the power cables, and attempted to cart them away before they were intercepted and arrested by security operatives.

They were subsequently taken to the NSCDC office in the area for further investigation.

Following interrogation at the Corps’ State Headquarters in Kano, the suspects reportedly confessed to committing the offence, while another accomplice is said to be at large.

In a related development, NSCDC personnel on routine patrol along the Kofar Waika/Kofar Dawanau dual carriageway arrested an 18-year-old suspected tricycle thief, Abdullahi Aminu, a resident of Unguwar Dabai in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

The suspect was alleged to have forcefully entered a parked tricycle with a female passenger inside while the rider briefly stepped away to deliver a dispatch.

He reportedly drove off recklessly with the passenger on board before NSCDC operatives from Dala Division, responding to calls for help, rescued the victim and arrested the suspect.

The command stated that the suspects are currently in custody and will soon be prosecuted.
