The Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD) has honoured the President of the Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF), Mrs Olabisi Temitope Joseph, for her outstanding contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria.
Presenting the award to Mrs Joseph, the President of NAPHER-SD, Professor Florence Bola Adeyanju, disclosed that the association had selected more than 10 distinguished sports personalities and seasoned administrators for the prestigious recognition.
Our correspondent reports that the event took place during the 54th NAPHER-SD Conference and elections held at the Centre for Excellence, Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Commenting shortly after receiving the award, Mrs Joseph said the recognition would motivate her to continue making sacrifices and redouble her efforts towards projecting the image of Nigeria through sports, both within and outside the country.
Mrs Joseph, who also serves as the Continental President for Africa of the International School Sport Federation (ISF), commended the leadership of NAPHER-SD and other stakeholders for their support and cooperation.
She pledged that the NSSF would continue to do everything possible to promote the development of sports at the grassroots level.
Other top sports personalities who received similar awards included former Minister of Sports, Professor Taoheed Adedoja; immediate past Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Muhammad Sanusi; Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) and former Chairman of the Sports Committee of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Musa Garba Yakasai; and former Secretary-General of the NFF, Dr Tijjani Yusuf, among others.
