The Sokoto State APC Chairman, Alhaji Isah Sadiq Achida, has claimed the PDP of lacking a clear manifesto to present to the people of state ahead of September 21,local government elections in the state.
Achida stated that the PDP has failed to deliver any meaningful projects in the state despite being in power for eight years.
He further noted that the PDP had initially planned to contest the scheduled local government elections but later withdrew due to fear of defeat, given the significant achievements of the current APC-led government in the state within just one year.
He also revealed that three days before the closure of nomination form sales, the PDP requested an extension of time from the state independent electoral commission(SOSIEC).
However, at an emergency meeting of the 17 political parties in the state, all the political parties, except the PDP, indicated their readiness to participate in the elections.
Achida alleged that the PDP’s actions were a ploy to avoid participating in the elections due to fear of defeat.
Three days before the closure of the sale of nomination forms, the PDP candidates requested the Electoral Commission to postpone the election to a later date.
The Party Chairman further stated that the Electoral Commission provide guidelines for conducting the elections, and as the party leaders, we sought advice from election experts and our party’s constitution, APC, where we found the procedure for nominating candidates and selecting our flag bearers.
He emphasized that before the PDP leaves power, they will be crying and breathing heavily, and when we start our campaign for the local government elections, you will see how the PDP members will be running to join the APC.
