From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, has declared that Nigerians will vote out President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election due to what he described as failed economic policies and worsening insecurity.

Inuwa, a former Secretary to the State Government, made the comment during a meeting with thousands of PDP supporters as part of ongoing discussions around a proposed merger with other opposition parties.

According to him, the prevailing economic hardship and deteriorating security under the Tinubu-led administration have pushed Nigerians to seek alternative leadership.

“President Tinubu is the lowest-performing elected president. His two years in office are a waste, as Nigerians are currently facing the most difficult time to survive in the nation’s history,” Inuwa said.

He argued that Tinubu’s policies are “geared towards enslaving Nigerians,” and have failed to tackle the rising cost of living, inflation, and insecurity, especially in the North.

Inuwa added that opposition parties were making significant progress in forming a political alliance aimed at unseating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

“The journey to form a political alliance ahead of the 2027 elections is gaining momentum. Every day, people are joining the train, and support is pouring in from across the country,” he said.

Also speaking at the meeting, former Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita briefed the gathering on the progress of the proposed merger talks, noting that discussions would be concluded by June 20.

“We are not late. We still have two years before the elections. What we are working on is to present a political platform that will be acceptable to all Nigerians,” Kaita said.

Our correspondent reports that the meeting was attended by former members of the National and State Assemblies, including aggrieved supporters of the APC who have expressed interest in joining the planned coalition.
