The Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) is witnessing a remarkable transformation under the leadership of its Director General and Acting Executive Secretary, Hajiya Khadija Hussein Sa’id, through reforms aimed at strengthening healthcare regulation, promoting professionalism and protecting public health across Kano State.

Guided by integrity, honesty, humility, accountability and a strong sense of public service, Hajiya  Sa’id has demonstrated that effective leadership is not determined by gender, but by vision, competence and the ability to inspire positive change.

Under her stewardship, PHIMA has intensified regulatory oversight of private hospitals, clinics, laboratories, maternity homes and other healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with established standards and improve the quality of healthcare delivery.

Her administration has also strengthened the fight against health quackery, illegal medical practice, unregistered health facilities, unethical conduct and unsafe practices, including unauthorized blood transfusions carried out in homes and chemist shops.

Through regular inspections, stakeholder engagement and strict enforcement of regulations, PHIMA is fostering a culture of patient safety, professionalism, and accountability in the private healthcare sector.

Reaffirming her commitment to excellence, Hajiya Sa’id has pledged to sustain the campaign against indiscipline and non-compliance while continuing to strengthen PHIMA as a responsive and standards-driven regulatory agency.

These reforms complement the healthcare vision of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and contribute to the realization of the Kano First Agenda by building a safer, stronger and more efficient private healthcare system for the people of the state.

As PHIMA continues to enhance institutional capacity and public confidence, its transformation stands as a testament to the impact of ethical leadership, integrity and unwavering dedication to public service in advancing quality healthcare and safeguarding the lives of citizens.
