Government Girls Mega College, Doma, Gombe state has protested against Government Girls Secondary school, Yola, Adamawa state for fielded ineligible players in the semi final of the ongoing Savannah Conference Nestle Milo basketball championship.
The Gombe side who played under protest even before the commencement of the match claimed that Adamawa fielded some of the players who participated at the recent concluded preliminary of the National Sports Festival northeast zone.
The conference is taking place at the indoor sports Hall of Sani Abacha Sports complex, Kofar Mata, Kano.
The match ended 35-15 in favour of Adamawa state, saw the match officials refused to signed the recorded sheets due to the protest awaiting the decision of the competition’s organisers, Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF).
Investigations conducted by our reporter, revealed that the Gombe side has produced the evidence to the NSSF officials on the matter.
When contacted, the NSSF’s spokesman, Sagir Sani confirmed receiving the protest, adding that centre coordinator and the NSSF’ Vice President Four. Malam Aminu Sarkin Fada were working to address the issue.
Meanwhile, Ahmadiyya College team has qualified for the final of girls category after beating Government Comprehensive Secondary school, Bauchi 21-11 points.
The final for both boys and girls would come up tomorrow Thursday between the Ahmadiyya College basketball team and Government Girls Secondary school. Yola, Adamawa/ Government day Mega College Doma, Gombe state.
