The Zamfara State Government has dismissed rumours linking the delay in salary payments to political developments, insisting that the situation has no connection with any alleged defection of Governor Dauda Lawal to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, clarified that the delay is part of a broader nationwide challenge associated with ongoing financial and banking processes at the central level.

According to him, “the government wishes to state clearly that the delay is not peculiar to Zamfara State, but rather part of a wider national issue.

“Efforts are currently being made to resolve these challenges, and the state government is actively engaging relevant authorities to ensure a swift resolution.”

Dantawasa further stressed that claims suggesting a political motive behind the delay, particularly speculations about Governor Dauda Lawal’s defection to the APC, are unfounded and should be disregarded.

“The government categorically refutes any such claims. They are baseless and do not reflect the true situation,” he said.

He appealed to civil servants and residents of the state to remain calm and patient, assuring that concrete steps are being taken to address the delay.

“The welfare of workers remains a top priority for the administration, and every effort is being made to ensure that all outstanding salaries are paid as soon as possible,” the statement added.

The government also cautioned the public against spreading unverified information, urging citizens to rely only on official communication channels for accurate and timely updates.
