As tight security envelops Kano city

The Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, and other prominent dignitaries attended the wedding Fatiha of Sen. Rabi’u Kwankwaso’s daughter, Dr. Aisha Kwankwaso, and her groom, Fahad Dahiru-Mangal, on Saturday.

Among the notable attendees were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State, and Senator Adamu Alero.

Also present were the Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar; Minister of Steel, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar; former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki; and former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.

Other key figures included former Governors Ahmed Makarfi of Kaduna, Mahmud Shinkafi of Zamfara, Isah Yuguda of Bauchi, Victor Attah of Akwa Ibom, and Lucky Igbinedion of Edo State.

Senators Abdul Ningi, Dino Melaye, and Rufai Hanga were also in attendance, alongside members of the National and State Assemblies, political leaders, captains of industry, and diplomats.

The wedding of Fatiha took place at the Emir’s Palace in Kano at around 12:15 pm, with the ceremony conducted by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zaharaddeen.

Vice President Shettima, who represented the groom, presented a dowry of N1 million to Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano, who stood in for the bride during the ceremony.

The event, which saw a large turnout of Islamic scholars and well-wishers from across the country, also attracted a significant number of residents.

Reports indicate that tight security was in place throughout the Kano metropolis, ensuring the safety of all attendees.

The Chief Imam prayed for lasting unity between the newlyweds, emphasizing the importance of their union. Fahad Dahiru-Mangal is the son of a prominent business magnate, Dahiru Mangal.

The wedding also highlighted the cultural and traditional significance of Kano State, with the Emir’s Palace serving as a symbol of the region’s rich heritage and history.

Sen. Kwankwaso, who served as Governor of Kano State from 1999 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2015, was also a former Minister of Defence and a serving senator.

He is credited with establishing both the Kano University of Science and Technology and North-West University.
