Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress over the approval of ₦8 billion for victims of the recent fire outbreak at Singer Market in Kano metropolis.

The governor said the intervention includes ₦5 billion from the Federal Government and ₦3 billion contributed by APC governors across the country.

The donation was announced by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a visit to the scene of the incident on Monday.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf described the support as timely and compassionate, noting that it would cushion the devastating impact of the inferno on traders and their families.

According to him, the gesture underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, especially in times of distress and national emergencies.

He also commended the APC governors for what he termed their solidarity and brotherly support, saying their ₦3 billion contribution reflected unity and shared responsibility within the party.

The governor assured that the funds would be transparently utilised for the reconstruction of affected shops and direct assistance to genuine victims of the disaster.

He pledged that his administration would collaborate with relevant federal agencies, party stakeholders and market associations to ensure proper and equitable disbursement of the relief funds.

Yusuf further urged affected traders to remain calm and hopeful, assuring them that the state government would complement the intervention with additional support measures.
