The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, has underscored the importance of timely, accurate and responsible communication in effective crisis management.

Ndace made the assertion while delivering a lecture at the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja, to participants of Course 34/2025.

His presentation was titled, “Public Opinion and the Media in Crisis Management in Nigeria: My Experience.”

Speaking during the lecture, he emphasised the critical role of the media in shaping public opinion during periods of crisis.

He urged participants to recognise the importance of constructive engagement with the media, describing it as an indispensable partner in promoting national security, building public trust and ensuring effective crisis management.

“It was an honour to share my experience with the participants and to highlight the need for timely, accurate and responsible communication during crises,” he said.

Ndace also noted that it was a privilege to share the platform with distinguished personalities, including Brigadier General S. K. Usman (PhD), former military spokesperson; veteran broadcaster Uncle Cyril Stober; and Associate Professor Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, whose contributions enriched the session.

He expressed appreciation to Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, the 22nd Commandant of the National Defence College, for the invitation, warm hospitality and the opportunity to engage with Nigeria’s future strategic leaders.

The VON Director-General also thanked members of the college’s faculty, participants and staff for their excellent coordination and constructive engagement throughout the programme.
