In a bid to strengthen communication between the government and women in Kano State, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has unveiled the Community Orientation Volunteer Project.

This initiative, spearheaded by Afnan Foundation, seeks to empower women by educating them about government programs and policies designed to enhance their lives.

Speaking during the launch, Comrade Waiya emphasized the project’s role in bridging the gap between the government and women, enabling them to access empowerment programs introduced by the current administration.

He highlighted the state’s efforts to support 4,400 women with a monthly stipend of N50,000, fostering financial independence and self-reliance.

The Commissioner also noted the procurement of buses dedicated to transporting female students safely from their homes to schools, a measure aimed at ensuring uninterrupted education and security for young girls.

Reaffirming Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to women’s empowerment, he stated that the administration prioritizes initiatives that uplift women economically and socially.

Former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, described the project as a transformative development, emphasizing its potential to enlighten women about their critical role in societal progress.

He encouraged participants to remain dedicated to the project’s goals, assuring them of the government’s continued focus on improving women’s living standards.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Afnan Foundation welcomed attendees, affirming that the selected participants were committed to educating women on accessing government programs for economic empowerment. She assured them of continuous support, encouraging them to spread awareness to others.

This project underscores the government’s dedication to bridging communication gaps and ensuring women across Kano State benefit fully from impactful policies and programs.
