Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the former Governor of Sokoto State and current lawmaker representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has expanded his empowerment programme to the Sokoto South Senatorial District.
The initiative, which targets residents across the seven local government areas in the district, includes the distribution of 2,000 bags of grains, 200 motorcycles, 210 water-pumping machines, and 210 grinding machines.
Beneficiaries are drawn from Bodinga, Tureta, Dange/Shuni, Shagari, Tambuwal, Kebbe, and Yabo Local Government Areas.
Speaking during the distribution, the Sokoto APC Youth Leader, Nasir Italy, who represented Senator Wamakko, reaffirmed the senator’s commitment to improving the lives of people across the state.
He described Wamakko as a “political father to all,” adding that the gesture was part of the senator’s continued effort to put smiles on the faces of his constituents.
“The distribution of these empowerment items is a demonstration of Senator Wamakko’s compassion and dedication to humanity,” Italy said.
The programme drew applause from beneficiaries, who commended the senator for his generosity and people-centred leadership.
The Chairman of Shagari Local Government Area, Abubakar Shagari Pakka, hailed Wamakko’s consistency in supporting communities, describing him as “unparalleled in Sokoto State except for the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello.”
One of the beneficiaries, 42-year-old Muhammad, expressed gratitude for receiving a motorcycle, saying it had fulfilled his long-held dream of owning one.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Sokoto, Abah Shehu Tambuwal; Chairman of Dange/Shuni Local Government, Aminu Magaji Bodai; APC Deputy National Youth Leader, Jamaludeen Kabir; APC Zonal Women Leader, Zarau Ibrahim; and Hon. Abubakar Shamaki Yabo, Member representing Yabo State Constituency.
Senator Wamakko’s empowerment programme, according to organisers, will extend to all three senatorial districts in Sokoto State as part of efforts to support the less privileged and promote economic development across the state.
