Zamfara state government has said it has spent the sum of 1.5 billion on the rehabilitation and renovation of Zamfara State College of Arts Science (ZACAS) Gusau and Government Science Secondary School, Gusau.

The commissioner of education, science and technology, Malam Wadatau Madawaki disclosed this during an assessment tour of the two schools in Gusau.

He explained that in science secondary School hostels, Kitching, staff quarters as well as multipurpose halls were completed and renovated expending about N300,000,000 and the ongoing second phase, while the academic section and staff room projects will cost N600,000,000.

The commissioner further said that Zamfara State College of Arts and Science (ZACAS) female and male hostels, mosques, a library, multipurpose hall engulfed N76,000,000, while the second phase project was earmarked N500,000,000.

Madawaki said that the second phase would be completed before the end of the 2024/2025 academic session.

The commissioner added that the effort was a result of the declaration of a state of emergency on education by the state governor Dr Dauda Lawal Gamjin Zamfara.

He was satisfied with the quality of the job carried out by the contractors of the projects in the two schools, noting that Governor Dr Dauda Lawal led – administration places top priority on the education sector which informed the renovation and upgrading of education infrastructures in the state to ensure conducive learning and working environment for students and staff.
