The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), Mohammed Abu Ibrahim, has outlined the Fund’s major priorities for 2025.
He emphasized the need to focus on enhancing the seed production system, scaling up agricultural financing, and improving rural infrastructure to boost food security and economic growth.
Ibrahim made this known on Thursday in Abuja while defending the Fund’s budget estimates for the 2025 fiscal year before the Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives.
During his presentation, the NADF boss highlighted key achievements from 2024, including strengthened partnerships with stakeholders and the successful execution of flagship projects, particularly the Ginger Recovery Advancement and Transformation for Economic Empowerment (GRATE) project.
The legislators commended the NADF for its accomplishments in 2024, noting its role in driving sustainable agricultural development across the country. They stressed the importance of increasing support for the Fund to enhance its initiatives and ensure the timely disbursement of seed capital critical to advancing Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The committees also reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with the NADF to achieve the shared goal of strengthening food security, a key agenda of President Tinubu’s administration.
The budget defense session was chaired by Senator Saliu Mustapha and Honourable Bello Kaoje.
