The Cross River State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) on Saturday, May 3, 2025, officially welcomed over 50 new members at a special integration meeting held at the party’s state secretariat in Calabar.
Speaking on behalf of the State Chairman, Barrister Anthony Ogboriku Odey, the State Publicity Secretary, Comrade Nyambi Odey, described the event as a major milestone in the party’s expansion within the state and across the country.
“I warmly welcome you to this unique gathering. Today marks a significant step as we integrate new members into our family of noble men and women,” he said, expressing confidence that the new entrants had made a wise political choice.
Odey emphasized that the NNPP stands on the pillars of peace, equity, and progress, noting its emergence as the fourth-largest political party in Nigeria following the 2023 general elections.
He praised the performance of Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing him as a model of the party’s dedication to good governance. “Governor Yusuf has done exceptionally well and undoubtedly deserves a second term,” he added.
Odey introduced key figures in the party’s national leadership, including the founder, His Excellency Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; the National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed; and the National Vice Chairman (South South), Dr. Stanley Ijei. He informed attendees that the full State Executive Council would be introduced soon.
He also announced plans to issue membership cards at the local government and ward levels, with documentation to be forwarded to the National Headquarters. Members will also receive digital copies of the party’s constitution, manifesto, and guiding philosophy.
Reaffirming the party’s mission, Odey said NNPP is committed to ending poverty and insecurity, strengthening democracy, rebuilding national unity, and driving inclusive economic growth. He outlined the party’s core values: trust, youth development, economic empowerment, equity, competence, transparency, patriotism, and justice.
“As new members, you are expected to participate actively in party affairs, contribute to decision-making, and embody these values in your conduct,” he charged.
Speaking on behalf of the new members, Mr. Nelson Aniefon pledged full loyalty to the NNPP, stating, “I am here to fight for righteousness, justice, equity, and transparency. Whatever is good, let us work for it.”
In his closing remarks, the State Party Leader, Ambassador Wilfred Otang, urged the new members to remain dedicated to the party’s growth. “I charge you all to work tirelessly for the party’s progress. Unity is the key to success,” he said.
