Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the promotion of 16,634 teaching and non-teaching staff in both primary and junior secondary schools across the 44 local government areas of the state.
The approval was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Corporate Communications of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Balarabe Danlami.
According to the statement, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Yusuf Kabir, announced the development while addressing issues relating to staff promotion within the board.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the promotion of 16,634 teaching and non-teaching staff whose promotion periods fall between July 2024 and July 2025,” Kabir said.
He added that the governor had also given approval for the payment of all financial entitlements arising from the promotions.
“The state government has equally approved the payment of all outstanding financial benefits attached to the promotions to ensure that the affected staff enjoy the full gains of the exercise,” he said.
Kabir commended the governor for the gesture, describing it as a clear demonstration of the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and the revitalisation of the education sector in Kano State.
He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by exhibiting greater dedication, discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, in line with the government’s drive to improve the quality of basic education across the state.
