From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
A former Commissioner for Information in Sokoto State, Dahiru Maishanu, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Maishanu, who holds the traditional title of Sarkin Sudan Na Yabo, disclosed this in a resignation letter dated March 17, 2026, addressed to the chairman of the party in Yabo “A” Ward, Yabo Local Government Area.
In the letter, he said his decision to quit the party was with immediate effect.
“I wish to formally inform you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” he stated.
The former commissioner attributed his exit to the lingering internal crisis within the party.
“This decision has become necessary due to the persistent internal crisis and legal disputes currently affecting the party, which have greatly limited its effectiveness as an opposition party,” he added.
He, however, expressed appreciation to members of the party for their support during his time in the PDP.
“I sincerely appreciate the support and cooperation extended to me during my time in the party,” he said.
