From Mu’awiya Bala Idris, Katsina
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Senator Muhtari Dandutse as its candidate for the Katsina South Senatorial District following a reconciliation meeting presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
The meeting successfully resolved differences between two aspirants contesting for the Senate seat in the zone.
It was agreed that Senator Dandutse would contest for the senatorial position, while Hamza Faskari would vie for the Faskari/Dandume/Kankara Federal Constituency seat.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Senator Dandutse commended party elders for their efforts in reaching an amicable resolution acceptable to all parties involved.
He noted that the agreement would strengthen unity within the party.
On his part, Hamza Faskari expressed satisfaction with the outcome, saying, “We all agreed on the decision reached at the meeting, and we will work together for the success of the party during the election.”
He also called for understanding and cooperation among party members, urging them to avoid actions that could create division within the party.
Our correspondent reports that the meeting was part of the ongoing consensus arrangement adopted by the APC for the emergence of candidates at all levels.
The Government House meeting is considered one of the crucial steps towards ensuring unity within the party, particularly in the southern part of the state.
