The Zamfara State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner, Engineer Ahmad Garba Yandi, has commenced the payment of gratuity to the fourth batch of retired local government staff across the state, amounting to a total of N500 million.
This development forms part of the Zamfara State Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of retirees and ensuring that former workers who served diligently at both local government and state levels receive their entitlements without delay.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rufa’i Hassan Gusau.
The Honourable Commissioner stated that the payment reflects the government’s determination to address long-standing challenges affecting retired local government workers and pensioners in the state.
He explained that the approval and release of funds for the fourth batch of gratuity payments followed careful verification and documentation processes, aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and fairness in the exercise.
The Commissioner commended Governor Dauda Lawal for prioritising the welfare of pensioners and retirees despite the numerous challenges confronting the state.
He reassured retirees that the Ministry would continue to work closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely payment of gratuities and pensions.
He further reiterated that the government remains committed to prioritising the welfare of both serving and retired workers, urging beneficiaries and the general public to continue supporting government policies and programmes aimed at delivering more dividends of democracy.
Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Zamfara State Government under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, describing the gesture as a significant relief that will improve their living conditions and support their families.
