From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto
The Sokoto State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed its commitment to providing special care and support to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving across the state.
The government said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that corps members carry out their national service in a peaceful, safe, comfortable and conducive environment.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Aminu Sani.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Sidi Almustapha Yahaya, stated this during a working visit to the temporary NYSC camp provided by the state government at the College of Administration.
The temporary camp is accommodating corps members deployed to Sokoto pending the completion of rehabilitation work at the permanent NYSC camp in Wamakko.
Yahaya, who represented the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Balarabe Kadadi, said providing a conducive and comfortable environment for corps members remains one of the priorities of the Ahmed Aliyu administration.
He described Governor Aliyu as a compassionate leader who understands the importance of young people to the development of Sokoto State and Nigeria.
He added that the state government had provided accommodation, healthcare facilities, toilets and other basic amenities to ensure that corps members have a suitable environment to perform their duties.
“The Sokoto State Government will continue to provide corps members with the necessary care and support to enable them to carry out their duties effectively, safely, peacefully and comfortably,” he said.
Yahaya noted that the state government recognises the significant contributions of corps members to education, community development and other sectors of society.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Matters, Hon. Kamaludden Abubakar Lemi, commended the state government for its sustained support for corps members.
He said the support would boost the confidence and commitment of corps members and enable them to make meaningful contributions to the development of Sokoto State.
Also speaking, the Sokoto State NYSC Coordinator, Tyoyer Gabriel, appreciated the state government for its continued care and support for corps members.
He said the support would motivate corps members to remain committed and diligent in carrying out their responsibilities.
Gabriel urged all corps members serving in the state to redouble their efforts and discharge their duties effectively for the benefit of the people and the development of Sokoto State.
The visit was attended by the Executive Secretary, Youth Matters; NYSC Director of Finance, Alhaji Akilu Adamu Gobir; and other senior directors and officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
The initiative, the statement added, further demonstrates the importance the Ahmed Aliyu administration attaches to young people and its determination to provide a conducive environment for corps members to serve with dignity, comfort and commitment.
