Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has described the death of the District head of Gatawa in the Sabon Birni local government area as a great loss not only to the local or state government but the entire nation.
He made the assertion during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Sabon Birni town.
Alhaji Aliyu said the late District head has played a significant role towards ensuring peace and unity within his domain.
He expressed dismay at the circumstances that led to the death of the Emir, pointing out that, as Muslims, nobody can escape his destiny.
The governor, who was represented by his Deputy Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, prayed Allah to grant his soul eternal rest and give the family, people of Sabon Birni and the entire state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Responding on behalf of the family of the deceased, the Eldest son of the deceased Alhaji Ibrahim Jan juna Gobir said as true believers, the family has already considered the incident as a will of Allah
He thanked the state government for its support throughout the kidnap and the death of their father.
The state government later donated 20 bags of rice and 10 bags each of Millet,Maize and N10 million cash to the deceased family in Sabon Birni town as well as 5 bags each of Rice, Millet and Maize as well as N3 million cash to the family residing in Sokoto.
He was accompanied on the visit by some members of the state Executive Council and Special Advisers.
